Meet Oliver Bamford-Senior: Why Lucid Supports Young Racing Talent

Supporting Ambition, Celebrating Progress and Backing the Next Generation of Motorsport

At Lucid, we’re passionate about technology, innovation and solving complex challenges. But behind every project, every deployment and every piece of software we create, are people.

That’s why we’re proud to support young karting driver Oliver Bamford-Senior, AKA O.B.S..

For us, this sponsorship isn’t simply about having our logo on a race suit. It’s about supporting someone with the determination to keep improving, the discipline to keep learning and the ambition to pursue a dream. Those are values we recognise.

Every Journey Starts Somewhere

Oliver’s motorsport journey began with a simple request.

In 2021, he asked his mum to take him to his local kart circuit for a one-to-one session. What started as curiosity quickly became a passion and, by the age of 12, he was competing nationally in the Club100 championship after being inspired by Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo.

Since then, his journey has continued to gather momentum, including joining AIRkart, a milestone he describes as one of the biggest achievements of his racing career so far.

More Than Speed

Motorsport is often associated with speed.

In reality, success comes from preparation, consistency and making the right decisions under pressure. Those same qualities shape the way we work at Lucid.

Whether we’re developing AV software, supporting enterprise deployments or designing intuitive user experiences, success is rarely about dramatic moments. It’s built on careful planning, continuous improvement and attention to detail. It’s one of the reasons Oliver’s story resonated with us.

Learning Through Every Lap

Like any young athlete, Oliver has already faced challenges.

Moving from Cadet to Junior karting required him to adapt to completely different machinery and develop a new driving style. Rather than seeing it as a setback, he treated it as another opportunity to improve. That mindset is something we admire.

Progress rarely follows a straight line, whether you’re building software or competing on a race circuit.

It’s the willingness to learn, adapt and keep moving forward that makes the difference.

Karting is a Lifestyle

When asked what keeps him motivated, Oliver’s answer was simple.

“Karting is not a hobby. It is a lifestyle.”

That level of commitment is reflected in everything he does, from simulator practice and fitness training to his race-day routine and mental preparation. Every week is another opportunity to improve. It’s an approach we can all relate to.

Looking Ahead

Oliver has already made an impressive start to the season. Having been named Novice of the Day three times during the six-race novice programme, he has now completed his novice status and removed the novice plates from his kart. In his first race as a post-novice driver at Shenington, he finished 5th in the B Final, marking another important milestone in his development.

His long-term ambition remains clear: to progress through the ranks of motorsport with the ultimate goal of reaching Formula 1. We’re delighted to be supporting him as he continues to build experience, develop his racecraft and take on increasingly competitive grids.

Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing race updates, behind-the-scenes content and milestones as Oliver’s journey continues.

Because while we build software that helps organisations perform at their best, we also believe in supporting people who are striving to do the same.

We’re looking forward to seeing where the next lap takes him.
